Optical Media Converter

Fiber optic media converter is a kind of Ethernet transmission conversion unit that can exchange short-distance electrical signals with long-distance optical signals. It is deployed in the access layer applications of broadband MAN, such as surveillance engineering, HD video image transmission in IPTV, road monitoring systems, electronic police surveillance systems, etc.

Single fiber media converters use WDM technology and typically use wavelengths of 1310nm and 1550nm, which can cut the amount of optical fiber used in comparison with dual fiber types and is ideal for areas with limited optical fiber resources.
